What to Expect
We are excited about the changes that are possible for you by becoming a patient of Swain Family Chiropractic. The first step you need to complete is to call the office to set up an appointment that works best for you. We have special times set aside for new patient visits.
First Visit:
Your first visit will take approximately 45 – 65 minutes. During this visit, you will be asked to complete a patient history form. This form will later be discussed with Dr. Swain or Dr. Lipke during your personalized consultation. During this consultation, The Doctors will also gather information about your health history, as well as your goals for coming to the clinic.
Next, you will receive a complete examination. Your examination will include; neurological, orthopedic tests, and SEMG, all of which are all tools to help locate if a subluxation exists. At that time, Dr. Swain or Dr. Lipke will determine if x-rays are necessary.
After your examination, you will view a short video, introducing you to chiropractic, in addition to the many benefits and natural approach to healing that chiropractic care can offer.
Finally, a follow-up appointment will be scheduled with you to review the findings of your examination. You will be provided with materials to review prior to the follow-up appointment to enhance your understanding of the chiropractic adjustment and the healing process.
Please note that all information received during your visits will remain private within our office.
Second Visit:
Your Second visit will take approximately 30 – 45 minutes. During this visit to Swain Family Chiropractic, Dr. Swain or Dr. Lipke will report the findings of your initial spinal examination. Together, you and the doctor will discuss the recommendations for beginning chiropractic care.
You will receive a second packet of information that has been prepared the doctors reflecting the findings of your exam.
Based on the recommendations discussed between you and Dr. Swain or Dr. Lipke, you will receive your first gentle chiropractic adjustment. Finally, you will work with the receptionist to schedule a series of follow-up appointments.
Follow-Up Visits:
Your follow-up visits will take approximately 10 - 20 minutes. During your follow-up visits, the doctors will evaluate your nervous system for the presence of abnormal spinal cord tension, as well as bone and muscle tension. They will also check for the presence of subluxations in your spine and when indicated, you will receive gentle, specific chiropractic adjustments.
